Born in Espluga, Mr. Josep M. Rendé i Ventosa (1874 -1925) was one of the key figures in the recovery of Catalan agriculture. The phylloxera disaster had practically devastated the entire country's vineyards at the end of the last century, spreading misery, real hunger and profiteering.
